10 ways to find your French home – stress free!

1. Make a list of all your must-haves: number of bedrooms, amount of land, village or country, proximity to shops, restaurants and bars, style, condition, outbuildings, pool…
2. Be realistic. This might be your only chance to have 5 acres of land but would you prefer to spend days sitting on a lawnmower or in a deckchair ? Smaller is often better – especially for a second home!
3. Know the difference between privacy and isolation. It’s nice to get away from most of it but getting away from it all can be a bit of a culture shock.
4. Keep an open mind. We’re good at listening but we’re good with wildcards too. We’ll know properties that don’t quite fit your wishlist but which will weave a special magic when you walk through the door.
5. Don’t be afraid to fall in love with the first or second house you see – it worked for many of us !
